Stargazing in Galloway

The Scottish Dark Skies Observatory near Brookford B&B
In 2010, the Galloway Forest Park was awarded Gold standard Dark Skies Park status due the exceptional quality of the night skies in the area.

This means that Galloway in southern Scotland is one of the few places in the UK dark enough to see stars, planets, the Milky Way and many other galaxies with the naked eye. Or arrange a visit to the brand new Scottish Dark Sky Observatory in nearby Dalmellington for an even better view!

This unique award is further recognition of the special nature of Dumfries and Galloway and yet another reason why a visit to the area will thrill and amaze you.

Talk to Ronnie or Angie about the best places to see the darkest skies and the special star gazing offers and packages available at Brookford B&B. Due to the new dark skies friendly LED street lighting in Dalry you can now see the night sky from the Main Steet!

If you don't come prepared, you can even borrow our binoculars. We will also provide you with seats, blankets and a flask of hot chocolate if you want to make a night of it.
